  • Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) – a federal agency and the largest national funder of volunteering and service, with offices in each state. CNCS administers the AmeriCorps NCCC, VISTA, and Senior Corps programs including RSVP, Foster Grandparents, and Senior Companion.
  • AmeriCorps NCCC engages teams of members in projects in communities across the United States. Service projects, which typically last from six to eight weeks, address critical needs related to natural and other disasters, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship and conservation, energy conservation, and urban and rural development. For information on how to bring an AmeriCorps NCCC team to your community, click here.
  • State Service Commissions are government agencies, or in some cases nonprofits, that receive Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and state funding to promote service and volunteering. They also receive CNCS grants to administer AmeriCorps programs in their states.
  • State Education Agencies or State Departments of Education lead education efforts throughout the state. They work with issues around public schools, adult literacy, etc. These agencies often administer the K-12 portion of the CNCS’s Learn and Serve America federal grant program.
  • AARP State Offices have mastered the art of reaching out to people 50 years old and above to improve their quality of life. AARP is familiar with service opportunities and how service benefits its members.
  • HandsOn Network is connected to HandsOn Action Centers in more than 250 communities throughout the United States. Action Centers, also known as volunteer centers, are connected to myriad volunteer opportunities.
