Plan for Action

Citizen Review

Once each subcommittee has completed its action planning process (view a sample action plan here), the results should be made available for the public. The information may be posted on a website, published in local papers, or summarized in a document by issue and major strategies. The summary document should be made available in libraries and other locations accessible to the general public.

The review process does not need to be elaborate. However, stakeholders should have the opportunity to comment on strategies. This is also an opportunity to begin getting citizens to commit to being a part of the solution. For this reason, it is important to know which groups will be responsible from implementing particular strategies so that citizens may be directed to the appropriate group to make a commitment.

The review and comment period should not be viewed as an opportunity for citizens to change the action plan, but rather to add thoughts, make commitments, and build support for the plan. To ensure that citizens know the information is available for review, utilize the strategies and mechanisms that were used to engage citizens through the process. Review the Citizen Participation section for information.
