Assess Needs

Citizen Review

The results of the needs assessment should be posted publicly. The information may be posted on a website, published in local papers, or distributed in short one- to two-page flyers. There should be a period of time when the data is available for review.

The review process does not need to be elaborate. However, stakeholders should have an opportunity to comment on issues. To ensure that citizens know that the information is available for review, utilize the strategies and mechanisms that were used to get citizens involved in the needs assessment process. Review the Citizen Participation section for information.

If a broad cross section of stakeholders were involved in the needs assessment process, commentary should largely support the results. If not, review the questions in Refining a Needs Assessment to see if any critical steps were missed.
